Kids will laugh but 'Despicable Me' hardly succeeds
"Despicable Me" means well. It wants to be fun. It wants to make kids laugh and squeal and lust after a line of reasonably priced toys. It wants parents to enjoy sly jokes delivered so quickly that the children don't realize something just zoomed over their heads like a Top Gun pilot buzzing the control tower.

Danger: Muddled story ahead
